Description

All Among the Lighthouses or The Cruise of the Goldenrod, by Mary Bradford Crowninshield published in 1886. Printed color cloth hard cover. The book is based on an actual trip of young children with their father on-board a lighthouse tender that was fictionalized because the government, at that time, would not allow a book to be written about children travelling on a lighthouse tender. The book takes place totally on the coast of Maine. The text reads like a fictional narrative that incorporates facts and technical information about the lighthouses into the story, some of it that seems to have been lost or forgotten over time. The book contains 32 illustrations, mostly full page, some historically accurate, some not. The book is in fair condition considering it is over 125 years old. 392 pages.
