Maine’s Bar Harbor and Acadia region, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the New England states is also the home to Acadia National Park, which is one our nation’s largest national parks,  including Cadillac Mountain, the highest point of land along the coastline of the eastern United States, and home to some of the most remote and rugged lighthouse stations on the entire east coast of the nation.

This soft cover book, with 127 pages, is packed with 200 historic images, many never before published, of the lighthouses and keepers who served at the lighthouse in the world famous Bar Harbor region of Maine, which is known around the world as “The Lighthouse State.” With informative text, and forgotten and rediscovered history, this book should be in the collection of anyone who loves lighthouses, maritime history or the history of Maine.

One of the lighthouses included in this book is the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse in Acadia National Park that was recently visited by President Obama and is featured on a new quarter from the U.S. Mint.
